KIBBEH HOMDA BALLS

Homid

Homid is a traditional Syrian dish featuring tender Kibbeh Homda simmered in a vibrant broth infused with fresh lemon, garlic, and mint. Combined with hearty vegetables, the bright, tangy flavors create a refreshing contrast to the rich, savory kibbeh, resulting in a comforting meal that is both light and deeply satisfying.

HOW TO MAKE HOMID

INGREDIENTS
  • 12-15 Seuda Kibbeh Homda balls

  • 6 to 8 garlic cloves, peeled

  • 1 potato, peeled and diced

  • 2 carrots, peeled and diced

  • 2 celery stalks, chopped

  • 9 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1/4 cup prune juice

  • 1 tbsp dried mint

  • 1 tsp kosher salt

  • 1 tsp sugar (optional)

  • 5 cups water

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Smash the garlic cloves with the flat side of a chef's knife

  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the garlic, potato, celery, carrots, lemon juice, prune juice, mint, salt, sugar (if using), and water

  3. Bring to a boil over medium heat

  4. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the vegetables are fork-tender

  5. Add the Kibbeh Homda balls and simmer, uncovered, for another 30 minutes

  6. Serve hot and enjoy

Yield: 8 to 10 servings

Kibbeh Peas

Tender Kibbeh Homda is gently simmered with sweet peas, onions, garlic, and warm spices in a light, savory broth. The natural sweetness of the peas pairs beautifully with the rich, seasoned kibbeh, creating a simple yet comforting dish that has been enjoyed around family tables for generations.

HOW TO MAKE KIBBEH PEAS

INGREDIENTS
  • 12–15 Seuda Kibbeh Homda Balls

  • 1 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • One 16-ounce bag frozen peas, or 2 cups fresh peas

  • 1 tsp ground allspice

  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1 tsp kosher salt

  • 1 1/2 cups water

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. In a medium skillet, saute the Kibbeh Homda balls in the vegetable oil over medium heat for 5 minutes, or until brown

  2. Add the peas, allspice, cinnamon, salt, and water

  3. Cook, covered, over medium-low heat for 1 hour, or until 1/4 cup of cool liquid remains

  4. Serve warm and enjoy

Yield: 4 to 6 servings

HOW TO MAKE KIBBEH HOMDA CHICKEN SOUP

INGREDIENTS
  • 12–15 Seuda Kibbeh Homda Balls

  • 1 batch of your favorite chicken soup recipe 

INSTRUCTIONS
  1. Prepare your favorite chicken soup recipe

  2. Once the soup is simmering, add the Kibbeh Homda balls

  3. Continue simmering for 30 minutes, or until the Kibbeh Homda balls are tender

  4. Serve hot and enjoy

Yield: 6 to 8 servings
